Thursday 4th March - World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day Miss McKenzie has organised a variety of events to take place during the school day. Children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. (Please stick to classics such as Dickens or Roald Dahl etc.) In addition there will be two events that parents are invited to attend with their children;
8.30 - 9.15am - Breakfast reading and book swap.
Children and parents are invited into the school hall for a breakfast book swap, time to read newspapers, comics, books etc with tea, coffee and toast.
5.15-6pm - Bedtime reading in pyjamas with cocoa and biscuits!
This special evening means children and an accompanying adult or relative (in PJ's) can return to school for a "bedtime" story - KS1 will meet in Class 1 and KS2 children in the Library.
Could you please complete the form at the back of the letter sent home with your child so we can guage the numbers who will be attending these events.
Friday 26th February - Speedmark Challenge
Money raised during this Speedmark Sponsor event will be put towards the cost of engraving ex Washingwell pupil David Watson's name on the Whickham War Memorial.

Children can come to school dressed for their party.
Tuesday 15th December 2009 - KS1 Christmas Fun Day
Children can come to school dressed for their party. Party games will be held plus, a special visitor may pop in with gifts during the afternoon - Listen for the sleigh bells!!
Monday 14th December - Hossana Rock - School Production
Our Drama Club production will have two performances - 2.00pm and 6.00pm. Tickets cost £2.00 per adult and 50p per child (up to 14 then an adult ticket required). Refreshments will be on sale after each performance. If you wish to purchase a ticket please return the order form sent home with your child with money in an envelope (cheques made payable to 'Washingwell Primary School'). Tickets will also be on sale each day after school.

A group of KS2 children will be visiting Whickham Villa Nursing Home to sing Christmas carols for the residents.

Thursday 10th December 2009 - Carol sing-a-long
Get yourself into the Christmas festivities by joining us for a carol sing-a-long. 2.00pm in the school hall. There will be a collection in aid of the charity "Shelter" .
Tuesday 8th December 2009 - Christmas Lunch
If you would like your child to have a meal complete the slip sent home with your child and return to school by Friday 27th November to enable the cook to order supplies. Please return the form even if your child normally stays for school dinners. There will be a vegetarian alternative.
The cost for this is £1.80, which will become payable on Monday 8th December. (free to those entitled to free meals) Do not send money with the reply slip.
Friday 4th December 2009 - Cinderella, Theatre Royal
Our Pantomime visit is nearly here. This visit is being paid for by the school for all children. Our thanks go to the Friends Committee for agreeing to pay for the transport. Please complete the consent form sent home with your child and return it to school by Monday 30th November.
We will be leaving school at 1.00pm and return at approximately 5.00pm.

Gateshead Primary School Review - Parents' consultations regarding the review will be held at 6.30pm in the school hall.

Mrs McCue will be holding auditions for this years school production in the school hall at 3.20pm - 4.20pm. Children who audition must be available every Tuesday after school for rehearsals. This will be open to children from Year 2 - Year 6.

Bug Busting drop in session for parents to talk to our school nurse with concerns about head lice 8.45 - 9.10am. The nurse will also be visiting classes to give children information about head lice.
If parents have other concerns regarding their childs' health and would like to speak to our nurse, please either ring or see Mrs Faichney in the school office regarding contact.

Tempest will be visiting the school to take individual and family group photographs (including other younger siblings not attending the school). Group photographs will commence 8.45am.
